Alexander Graham Bell attended the unveiling of the Bell Memorial on October 24, 1917 and confirmed, "Brantford is justified in calling herself 'The Telephone City,' because the telphone orginated here." This art deco granite and bronze memorial was designed by Walter S. Allward, one of Canada's most important monument sculptors of the early 1900's. The allegorical style of the monument presents several aspects of the invention.
